Load in up to 40 samples and Channel Surfer will choose one at random to play starting at a random time within it, and at a random speed and pitch, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁. But, you get to decide how random the system is; whether each beat is an ever changing symphony of unpredictability or an eternal echo of repetition, the choice is yours to play!

Channel Surfer also allows you to adjust parameters such as the range of possible playback speeds, add drum samples to create loops using the built-in sequencer, and apply live low-pass and high-pass filtering. However you play it, Channel Surfer is always configured to 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Channel Surfer is great for producers of plunderphonics, chopped & screwed, vaporwave, or anyone looking to try something a bit more experimental by allowing the artist to find unconventional samples, textures, and rhythms.

This sampler was built in and runs in Max. Max is a visual programming language and software made by Cycling ‘74 that allows artists to create their own multimedia programs.
In order to use Channel Surfer 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗠𝗔𝗫, which can be downloaded for free here:

Channel Surfer can also be played using the Touché MIDI controller by Expressive E, though this is completely optional. It might not be the most known MIDI controller out there, but if you’re interested you can check out the Touché here:

When you purchase the full album, you will also receive an .amxd file, which is the sampler, and a .mp4 that is used for aesthetics in Channel Surfer. Be sure to extract the sampler and video file from the downloaded zip file into the same folder before running (this process is done automatically on Mac).
